Ever wondered what happens during a trance? Is trance a mysterious spell cast over somebody? Do people really lose control over their minds when they’re in a hypnotic trance? Well, this trance hypnosis post will answer your burning questions about this topic.
There’s a lot of curiosity and intrigue surrounding hypnotic trance. But the truth is much simpler— trance is a state of deep relaxation when someone is highly responsive to suggestions during hypnosis. While the depth of the trance varies, the bottom line is you’re in a comfortably relaxed state.
Hypnotists induce a state of trance so they can help instill positive and powerful changes into your subconscious mind. That’s why hypnosis has been used for a lot of physical and psychological concerns, such as weight loss, anxiety, depression, IBS, and insomnia, among other things.
Now, what happens to your brain when you enter a trance?

If you’re not sure if somebody is really in a trance, here are some signs to look for:
Typically, breathing slows down when you’re relaxed. But sometimes, breathing may be a bit faster when someone’s relaxing. So, notice if the breathing pattern changes from their usual pace. Check the rise and fall of the chest or shoulders.
When someone first goes into trance, he or she tends to swallow more often. After several minutes though, it slows down.
Your facial muscles become more relaxed in a trance, and your face may even look more symmetrical.
During a trance, your blood has a fluid flow or circulation, so you may have more color or even a darker skin tone.
Did you know that there are various depths of trance? It ranges from light trance to coma, and depends on the person being hypnotized, not the hypnotherapist.
